Writing with Murray Gadd

Murray Gadd Magic

Our Professional Learning in Writing with Murray Gadd for 2018 has come to an end as far as visits from him go but he has left us with plenty to continue with, develop and implement.
We were able to observe other teachers alongside Murray and I observed Mel taking a small group.  It was helpful to be part of the process and discussion before, during and after lessons of other teachers.
Part of our Writing journey as a hub is to ensure children have exposure to different genre and when given a topic, will be confident enough to make their own choices about what types of writing they will use.
We co created a PIES diagram that linked off to learning resources for each genre.

The aim for this is to use Murray's idea for basing writing on a topic.  Children then make choices about what they want to do with it as far as purpose goes.  They can then decide on how they will do this, therefore being able to refine their craft.
Feedback from Murray observing me:

• Engage in professional learning and adaptively apply this learning in practice.
• Be informed by research and innovations related to: content disciplines; pedagogy; teaching for diverse learners, including learners with disabilities and learning support needs; and wider education matters.
