Teaching As Inquiry

Writing Inquiry

My Teaching As Inquiry topic for 2018 was looking at feedback and how that helps accelerate achievement for boys in Writing.  Our whole hub focused on our target group which was Year 6 Boys in Writing.
Part of my inquiry was looking at the different types of feedback, ensuring the boys knew what types of feedback they might get in Writing and then providing the different types through our learning programme.
This inquiry and focus on feedback in Writing also had benefits for other writers in the class and in other curriculum areas as awareness was increased and it was always at the front of my thinking.
One indication that the inquiry was having an impact was when one of the boys was reading back through comments I had written in his Handwriting book.  He said to me, the last two times you have just given me feedback with no feedforward or next steps.  Awkward but a very valid point.
